Diane Bertrand

Born in Mont-Laurier, Quebec, I was fascinated by visual art very early in life. The act of painting helped me evacuate teenager’s frustrations and anguish. Magritte was my favourite, and still is.

I have a bachelor in education from Laval University, and taught French and arts in a Gatineau high school.

From 1996 to 2001, I lived in Paris, where I did artistic research and visited galleries and museums, and I further explored art in most of the other European capitals. Since my return to the Ottawa area, I spend all my time and energy experimenting and producing art.

My art is both narrative and editorialist. I would like to encourage pride and solidarity in women. Visit www.repertoirecultureloutaouais.ca/dianebertrand for more information.
