David Kearn

David was born in the United Kingdom. He studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bath and the Royal Aircraft Establishment, becoming a practicing Chartered Engineer. David's subsequent career took him to Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta, bringing him to the Ottawa Gatineau region in 2000.

David then decided to pursue his love of painting full time. From the outset he was drawn to portraiture and figure work, capturing something of the human condition. He's always searching for something unusual, perhaps a feeling of movement and internal dynamics, even in the static. David is recipient of a Ted Marshall Memorial Scholarship from the Ottawa School of Art.

In his business career, David led a range of management seminars and workshops aimed at fostering innovation and creativity. His openness, commitment and energy are infectious and he earned a reputation as an inspired motivational teacher and coach. David is enthused to combine his experience and love of painting in his courses at the Ottawa School of Art.
