Jung Hee Lee-Marles

Originally from Seoul, Korea, Jung Hee Lee-Marles graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Education degree with a major in painting and minor in sculpture. After working as an art teacher in Korea for two years, in 1983 she moved to Chicago to do a Masters degree in education at Roosevelt University. She emigrated to Canada in 1988 and spent more than 10 years in Manitoba as an exhibiting artist, art instructor, and artist-in-residence at public schools.

Since moving to Ottawa in 2003, Jung Hee has continued to create new series of artworks and show them in group and solo art exhibitions. Recently her solo exhibition, “Being Heard, Not Hearing,” has been featured at the Trinity Gallery, Shenkman Arts Centre. She is actively involved with the Nepean Life Drawing Studio and OMMA (Ottawa Multi Media Artists). She also works part-time as a certified archival quality art framer.

Over the years her paintings have been more in the abstract style but Jung Hee’s deep interest in figure drawing has always been the second major facet of her art projects.
