Heather J. Martelock

Heather J. Martelock, born in Ottawa, ON, has lived in Northwestern Ontario, Northern Manitoba and is back in Ottawa since 1982.

She holds a B.A. (Religious Studies), and M.A. (Religious Studies), both of the University of Ottawa, as well as a B.F.A. (studio) of the University of Ottawa.

Her research for M.A. and Ph.D. focused on Canada's Arctic and Sub-Arctic Inuit, Dene, and Cree Christian Art and Architecture.

Her art work is based on the German Figurative Expressionist school. Heather has painted seriously since 1990 after the death of her eldest daughter. Her work is based on lifes' experiences, events. She uses oil paints on various support mediums including canvas, tentest, and wood. She is looking to work and show with other artists who enjoy the human figure as subject.
