MELANIE
2 min gestures                             Hilde Lambrechts

Melanie is without doubt one of the most beautiful models in the Ottawa art scene; She has the whole package; feminine curves and a beautiful face with big green eyes, a muse for those who appreciate classic beauty.

She started modeling in 2000 after she discovered that body type is detrimental to the feeling that the model has and projects about him- or herself. She is self-taught and had to learn fast as her first assignment was a sequence of 2 min poses for 45 min. Melanie loves gestures and she likes to push both herself and the artist by taking physically challenging poses and portraying emotion. Her gestures are a mixture of standing, bending, crunched down and reclining poses, often with a twist in the body. She takes them in either a movement sequence or a sequence of low, mid and high level poses. She appreciates a break after 20 min in a long standing pose. When sitting for a portrait her eyes tend to shut, but she opens them regularly.

Melanie enjoys the stillness of modeling. She loves to watch the artist work and engage with the art work he/she is making. She sees her relationship with the artist as a partnership and likes to go to their art shows to see the end result.

Melanie has found her bliss in modeling; “It is the reason why I am on this planet”, and maybe that’s why she is so natural in whatever pose she takes. She works for schools, life drawing groups and individual artists, but likes to be booked at least a week in advance due to her other activities.
