Olga Szkabarnicki

Olga was born in Bradford, Ontario, of Ukrainian-Canadian heritage. She enjoyed drawing from an early age and received awards and distinctions for her art as a youth. She is well-travelled.

Having studied political thought, art history, literature and law at university, Olga now practices Aboriginal law by day. However, by night, it’s a different story… told in colour. A recent encounter with breast cancer seems to have spurred a rebirth of her artistic energy. A passion for the beauty of the human form and gaze drives her work in various media, including oils, encaustic, pastels, charcoal, and ink.

Olga is largely self-taught. She has benefited tremendously from courses at the Ottawa School of Art in recent years, and is very grateful for the inspiration provided there by instructors and colleagues alike. You may find some examples of her recent work by contacting her through the Facebook page of Ursa D. Minor.
