Taylor started modeling in August 2008 and was trained by Ottawa model Dan T. at the Ottawa School of Art.
As a philosophy student at St.Paul in Ottawa, she is intrigued by the connectivity between mind and body and the perception of time. When holding a pose Taylor becomes very aware of her body and how it resists gravity. She passes the time by listening to the ‘internal noise’ and is surprised how the mind can influence the speed with which time seems to pass: Long poses can seem very short and vice versa.
She has no preference for either long or short poses. She loves the challenge of both. In the first the mental challenge predominates while in the latter the physical challenge is more outspoken. Her short poses are a work-out, reminiscent of a gymnastics routine, and she uses them to connect with her body to know what it will be able to do on a given moment in time. She prefers her long poses to be reclining or sitting, since standing is not so easy on her knees. Her strengths are her stillness and ability to maintain the gaze.
Taylor’s inspiration comes from within, from her unconsciousness; she does not research poses out of concern to lose her individuality. She describes modeling as a very humbling experience that underlines her humanity and she takes with her the gratification of having inspired.
